Logbook entry: Hut Cave sampling (2015-12-06) at Hut cave system

Lyra and I returned to Hut Cave early evening. My exit route was fine to climb in through with crampons, and the other side of the same ice tower was stable to climb up and out of. Followed the entrance down the icy/rocky slope through the passage to the left that followed a big crack in the rocks (where Lyra found some sunglasses!) to its end, and there were a couple of warm vents up to 5-6C but the warmest was in the other passage around 8+C where my probe was.

The entrance at the end of that passage is fine but tall and icy so would require a rope. Lyra checked out a couple of other passages but is suspicious of the stability of the ice roof in the large snowy chamber that I didn’t go past.

Lyra helped with crimping so saved my hands some hassle.
