A short trip to change out the sampling tubes (Tobias) and put in a sample probe in the big room at the back with the cooler, deeper vents (me). The entrance was a bit snowy after a couple of days of bad weather, but otherwise fine. There was a lot of snow accumulated at and around the main sampling site.

For the second probe, we used the vent to the far left in the big room when coming from the main part of the cave. It was about 8C, and we could feel airflow. I buried the soil probe on far side of vent, as we seemed likely to lose it if I tried to reach bottom. The testo showed around 1200 ppm CO2 in the vent. Air temperature outside the vent is about 1.2C, so it is warm air coming out - perhaps the flow rate makes it feel cooler.
